2015 Year In Review

There has been a lot of change in the Vinylmation World this year. To me it's seemed like a whirlwind of negativity and confusion. I'll admit that at times it's gotten me down and I apologize that I haven't kept up with the blog this year as well as I have in previous years for that reason. The changes have definitely affected and influenced my collecting habits, but this year hasn't been all bad. After almost 5 years of collecting... here's my 2015 In Review!

Number of Vinylmation in my collection as of this post:
3" - 150
9" - 11
Jr. - 10
Park Starz - 9

My favorite Disney artist right now is:
I think I have to say it's a tie between Thomas Scott and Casey Jones this year. I still love the work of several other artists like Ron Cohee, Caley Hicks, and Maria Clapsis, but I'm going to have to say it's a tie because Thomas Scott and Casey Jones have both produced an equal number of figures that I've fallen in love with this year. Thomas Scott's Marvel, Avengers and Star Wars: The Force Awakens figures have been absolutely fantastic, and Casey Jones has done several incredible series such as The Haunted Mansion, Star Wars #5, Park #16.

The upcoming set I'm most looking forward to is:
For the third year in a row, we really don't have much information at this point on upcoming releases for 2016. Thankfully though, we do have some information at least. Therefore I can't really say what I'm most looking forward to for my collection personally, but I will say that I'm very happy that a 9" figure will be released and I think the Mickey Mouse Club 3" series looks awesome too.

Holy grail that I wish I owned is currently:
The Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater 9" from Park #4. I have never seen this for sale or trade anywhere! I would love to get my hands on it and finally own it!

My favorite purchase this year was:
Probably the Mine Mine Mine 9" from Park #2. This is a Vinylmation that I have ALWAYS wanted but never in a million years thought I would own. Coming from the second Vinylmation series ever produced, and having a low Limited Edition size, this figure is consistently listed at around $500 on eBay. Luckily, I somehow stumbled on a listing one day that had a much more reasonable price and I snagged it without a second thought.

The artist whose work I added most to my collection this year was:
Ron Cohee. This year I added 10 figures that were designed by Ron Cohee to my collection. He has always been one of my top favorite artists. I love the work of probably every Disney Design Group artist, but Ron has an amazing ability to make his work look like it's popped right out of a Disney movie. In second place was Maria Clapsis, with 8 of her figures added to my collection, and in third place was Caley Hicks with 4 figures. This year I added the work of 11 different artists to my collection.

Something new I did this year was:
Expand my 9" collection. This time last year I only owned one 9" figure. I had said since the day I started collecting that I didn't have the room for a 9" collection, and the price was too high even if I did have the space. Well this year I did a 180 and decided that there were too many figures out there that I wanted. I got several for great prices, and I also splurged a little on the Up 9" which was my holy grail I wished I owned last year. I bought the Death Star 9" at retail because I absolutely had to have it from the second I saw it! But I'll be honest and say that the issue of not having space hasn't changed. Right now I have to keep my 9" figures boxed in a closet.

I'm looking forward to another year of Vinylmation collecting in 2016!

D-Street Replaced at Walt Disney World

The beloved hub of Vinylmation has now been replaced by a new store at Disney Springs in Walt Disney World. D-Street had been moving further and further away from the Vinylmation haven it was created to be for quite some time. It's not too surprising that the store has changed this week to become "Star Wars Galactic Outpost". For a while the store had mostly been selling Star Wars merchandise, so I guess it made sense to re-brand the store and make it official. Vinylmation have not been sold at D-Street for a few weeks after the merchandise was recently moved to Disney Pin Traders.

Preview of New Vinylmation Coming in 2016!

Here are some stills of the Vinylmation that were featured:

No prices, release dates or any other information has been given yet, so stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog, the Disney Parks Merchandise page and of course Vinylmation Isle for more information on these releases as it becomes available. I am happy to see more releases on the horizon!
